The Stedelijk Museum is working on digitizing its archive. The paper is about the way that is done, the technical side, and the context.From one archival document many different stories can be told, and these stories can take on many forms. A few historical examples are given and the exhibition series ReCollections is discussed. An overview of the overall digitization plan of the Stedelijk is given as the plans for the physical space where the learning zone of the museum will be shown.

Michiel Nijhoff, born 1956, studied History of Arts in Leiden and Utrecht, Librarian of Museum Boijmans from 1985 to 2000. From 2000 to 2007 Librarian of Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. From 2007 Head of Library and Collection Registration, responsible for Library. Collection Registration, Archive, Photography Archive, Collection Management System. Responsible for various large digitization projects. Publishes regularly on museum libraries. Chair of Art libraries Society / NL from 2000-2008, member of Art Section of IFLA from 1998-2002. Member of International Relations Committee of ARLIS/NA from 2008-2010.
