Just how visionary were the sounds created by Hermann Heiss using what by modern standards were very primitive technical means only becomes apparent 50 years later in a contrast between his music and contemporary electro-acoustic art. A piece for tape recorder by Heiss is followed by a concert given by the Australian duo, minit, which closes the official opening of the exhibition.
minit [Jasmine Guffond und Torben Tilly] use both analogue and digital technologies. They manipulate recorded sounds along with sounds they have ‘found’. Their purpose in doing so is to escape from the conventional approach to composition and thinking in terms of voices and instrumental structures. minit use digital deconstructions and extended electro-acoustics to investigate and push out the sonic and musical boundaries of acoustic instrumentation.
