Infermental, the first international video cassette magazine, was initiated in 1980 by the Hungarian film-maker, Gábor Bódy. Alternating editorial departments from different countries compiled an annual five to seven-hour magazine that reported on the latest trends in art and the media. Ten issues and a special edition of the image-based periodical were published. Infermental is thus an important document illustrating the 1980s. The individual issues were shown at festivals as well as in museums and art clubs and have been part of the ZKM video collection since the mid-1990s. They can be accessed in the media library. The Infermental archive has now been reorganised in cooperation with the Stuttgart Media College and a website set up that gives the Infermental network a visual dimension. The idea of an encyclopaedic image-based periodical has thus become reality in combination with items from the media library archives.
