Needless to say, the ZKM is also involved in the Regional Day 2004. The Museum Communication Department invites children, adolescents and adults to take part in various workshops and guided tours, during which they can see for themselves that the ZKM is one of the most important cultural institutions in the region.

11.00-12.30 A visual voyage to the world of images
This enjoyable thematic tour takes children over 6 on a voyage of discovery to the world of static and moving pictures. The questions asked include: What is an image? How do we see and process images? What importance do images have in our lives and our culture? With Elisabeth Martius, museum educationalist.
14.00-18.00 Lego Mindstorms 2.0 - the ZKM’s robot workshop Children over 10 can build robots using Lego and Lego Mindstorms 2.0 and programme their behaviour. Specialist assistance is provided by Martina Haitz, a robotics engineer.
16.00-19.00 Small Fish - Great Poet. ZKM music workshop A workshop for children and adults offering an experimental approach to text, image and sound elements. The artwork Small Fish provides the software for completely new creative experiences with images, language and sounds. For the first time this workshop enables participants to produce music using the pictures they have painted. The workshop is for children over the age of 6 as well as adolescent and adult art and music enthusiasts – from Goethe lovers to rappers. With Gabriele Engelhardt, media artist.
