Works by N. Kawakami, M. Ockert, Y. Yamaguchi, D. Capyrin and D. Acker
»Perhaps my art is the art of a lunatic, I thought, mere glittering quicksilver, a blue soul breaking in upon my pictures.«
This quotation from Marc Chagall's autobiography »My Life« is the starting point of Noriko Kawakami's new piece, composed at the ZKM_Institute for Music and Acoustics. She uses this text as sound material in her tapes, together with the sounds of saxophone, pads and moving air. This work for two saxophones and four loudspeakers is her first attempt to place loudspeakers and instrumentalists on the same level, equal in rights. The saxophone duo Dialodia, who prompted Kawakami to compose the piece, will also present new works by Y. Yamaguchi, D. Capyrin, F.J. Herferth and D. Acker. These acoustic works will be counterpointed by the electronic compositions of guest artist Matthias Ockert.
