Munich, June 2013: refugees erect tents on the Rindermarkt and begin a hunger strike. A short time later they also refuse to drink. With their life-endangering Action they aim to advance their cause as persons entitled to asylum: A public demonstration of desperation accompanied, very closely, by a film team.

Niklas Hoffmann and his team followed the events in and around the hunger strike in Munich city center over an eight-day period. The result was a film that brought together attitudes among the population and in politics, the role of the media and the fates of individuals.

A premier showing of the film at the DOK.fest – 30th International Documentar Film Festival Munich will be held on May 10, 2014.

The installation »INVISIBLE« by Niklas Hoffmann was also on show in the recent ZKM exhibition »global aCtIVISm« (2013/2014).
