As part of the European Culture Days Karlsruhe, Jazzclub Karlsruhe e.V. will be presenting French-Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf in the halls of the ZKM. Accompanied by his band, his latest project »Red and Black Light« presents an ode to today’s woman and her important role in the hope of a better world.
Ibrahim Maalouf represents the theme of this year’s European Culture Days »Wanderings. Happiness | Suffering | Foreignness« better than almost any other jazz musician: After his flight from the civil war in Lebanon, Ibrahim Maalouf grew up with his parents and younger sister near Paris. At just seven years old, trumpet lessons with his father taught him classic technique with their baroque, classic, modern and contemporary repertoire together with classic Arabic music and the art of improvisation. Between 1999 and 2003 alone, Maalouf won 15 competitions all over the world.
