To the exhibition closing of »Art in Europe 1945-1968. The Continent that the EU does not know« on two nights compositions by Alexander Skrjabin, ::vtol:: and Peter Kirn will be performed. The pieces are presented on the light-musical instrument »Crystal«, which was developed by Bulat Galeyev in 1964 and reconstructed in 2016 by ::vtol:: and Sila Sveta Studio – curated by Natalia Fuchs.
In the field of experimental art, a special centre for sensory perception and synaesthesia in art – the Prometheus Scientific Research Institute for Experimental Aesthetics, founded by Bulat Galeyev in Kazan in 1962 – focused especially on the research of colour music. For example, as early as 1962, Scriabin’s Prometheus was performed for the first time on the lighting and music system that Galeyev had created together with students of the design department of the Technical University Kazan. Another colour music instrument, »Crystal«, was developed in 1964. It was reconstructed in 2016 by the media artists ::vtoll:: and Sila Sveta Studio. For closure of the exhibition, the instrument will be played live at two concerts.
In 2015, the instrument »Crystal« was also shown at the Polytechnic Museum in Moscow (video).
