On the occasion of the archive's transfer of the »Institut international de musique électroacoustique de Bourges« to the ZKM, Christian Clozier presents a Carte Blanche concert with his own compositions as well as pieces of some of the institute's long-standing companions.
In September 1970, composers Christian Clozier and Francoise Barrière founded an institute for electroacoustic music named »Groupe de Musique Éxperimentale de Bourges« (GMEB) in the French city of Bourges. The institute, which later operated under the name »Institut international de musique électroacoustique de Bourges« (IMEB), was forced to shut down in 2011 by the French Ministry of Culture.
In 2017, six years after the institute closed, the ZKM is bringing its works archive of electroacoustic compositions, the IMEB/ MISAME Archive, to Karlsruhe. For the archive’s handover, Christian Clozier is presenting a Carte Blanche concert at the ZKM. As part of this, he will perform his own compositions as well as compositions by some of the institute’s long-standing companions.
