In the installation »Gehörgang« [Auditory Passage], when you stand between the two enlarged images of the artist’s ears, you hear in your own ears how a text about hearing in an endless loop is emitted from the photo ears. Ears, which are normally receptors for sound waves inwards, are here paradoxically loudspeakers, amplifiers outwards. The installation was first shown in 1979 in the exhibition »Audio Scene ’79. Sound. Medium der bildenden Kunst« [Audio Scene ’79. Sound. A Medium for Visual Art] at the Modern Art Galerie, Vienna
