Will the Islamic state ever have to answer for its incomprehensible crimes? The ZKM presents the documentary »Slaves of the IS – Search for Justice«, which examines this question on the basis of the fate of two young Yezidi women.

Abducted, sold and raped, the women are accepted after their escape into the aid program for IS victims of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The leading traumatologist Prof. Dr. Dr. Jan Ilhan Kizilhan is convinced that the psychological injuries of the young women can only be healed if they also receive legal justice.

The documentary filmmaker David Evans and lawyer Philippe Sands, expert on genocide and war crimes, leads the search from the International Criminal Court in The Hague to the highest instance of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Attorney General in Karlsruhe.

The documentary shows that Europe lacks the political will to call the IS's masterminds to account. But is this not part of Europe's constitutional heritage, the foundations of which were laid in post-war Germany with the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials?

Before the film screening begins, Lord Mayor Frank Mentrup will address the audience. Traumatologist Prof. Dr. Dr. Jan Kizilhan will give an introduction to the documentary film in advance and is then available for discussion.
