Does society currently have a clear understanding of itself? If so, what is this understanding? How important is language, and how much do we need to communicate and understand each other so that social cohesion is not lost amid technical language, group jargon, digital communication and linguistic provocation?

This full-day symposium will also focus on freedom of expression and freedom of the press, and consider how comprehensible jurisprudence should be. It will explore the power of language when terms escalate, fake news goes unrecognised, machines become conversation partners or communication becomes appreciative again.

Join us for a day of listening, thinking and speaking together to promote a language that connects us.
