Davor Vincze
Biography
Davor Vincze is a composer and sound artist whose work explores the intersection of human expression and digital systems. He creates immersive operas, AI-based performances, and post-cinematic installations in which complex sonic environments connect bodies, algorithms, and audience interaction. A graduate of Stanford University and IRCAM, he is Artistic Director of the Music Biennale Zagreb and founder of the Novalis Festival. His music has been performed by Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain, and Klangforum Wien, and presented at Ars Electronica, ECLAT, and Manifeste. Informed by his medical training and shaped by a queer and post-Yugoslav perspective, Vincze’s work combines technical precision with artistic experimentation.
He was awarded the Giga Hertz Production Prize 2025 for his work on Manteia — a collaborative performance linking ancient divination practices with the interpretation of AI algorithms. The work combines sculpture, immersive sonic landscapes, and algorithmic interaction into a layered, multidimensional experience. Vincze composed the complete musical framework, connecting gesture, interface, and interpretation within a non-hierarchical model of authorship. The prize also recognizes a new composition scheduled for realization in 2026.
