Denisa Půbalová

Biography

Denisa Půbalová (she/her) is an artist-researcher and creative coder. She received a Master of Arts degree in Interaction Design from the University of West Bohemia and a Masters degree in New Media Studies from Charles University, where she researched climate infrastructures and interspecies communication. She speculates about (im)possible climate scenarios with microorganisms and biomaterials and has authored the book Planeta Kampus (Arbour Vitae, 2025). She is one half of the media arts duo Sikau/Půbalová, focusing on multi-sensory metabolic encounters. Their work has been presented by Science Gallery Bangalore, Kunsthalle Prague, LABoral Centro de Arte, Ligeti Centre Hamburg, European Commission, S+T+ARTS, Ars Electronica, and Transmediale. As a creative coder (Woven Studio), she has been commissioned to create large-scale interactive data-driven installations presented at UNESCO, the World Economic Forum, COP16, and the Montreaux Jazz Festival.
