Haute École des Arts du Rhin (HEAR) Strasbourg

Biography

The Electroacoustic and Real-Time Composition class (professors Tom Mays & Jean-Philippe Chalté) offers a curriculum in electroacoustic composition and computer music: real-time and delayed-time systems, processing, analysis, synthesis, algorithms, interactivity, augmented instruments, electronic ensembles, performance, and collaboration on interdisciplinary projects across various arts (theater, visual arts, dance, etc.). Access is possible through the Strasbourg Conservatory (CRR) via the COA/CPES program, or through higher education at the Academy of Music within the HEAR (Haute École des Arts du Rhin) at the DNSPM-Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral level. The teaching is in close collaboration with the Instrumental, Vocal, and Mixed Composition class (professor Daniel D’Adamo) – student mobility between classes is an integral part of the program. A significant emphasis is placed on compositional work, most often within a professional context. There are various projects with classes from the Conservatory and the Academy – instruments, dance and theatre – as well as in collaboration with students from HEAR/art in Strasbourg and Mulhouse – an art school bringing together music, sound arts, visual and plastic arts, and design.
