Riot Days is a play based on the memoir of Pussy Riot's Maria Alyokhina. It's a story of resistance, repression and revolution in a mixture of concert, rally, theatre and political happening.
The show combines live music, spoken word, video, and performance art to tell the story of the group’s activist actions and Alyokhina’s experiences in a Russian prison following their infamous protest in 2012.
The new show also addresses themes such as oppression and violence against the LGBTQ+ community, the story of Alexey Navalny, and Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Featuring New Age Doom
Riot Days & Political Girl
The show is based on the books Riot Days and Political Girl by Maria Alyokhina and tells her personal story as an activist member of Pussy Riot. From the first protests on Red Square through her arrest, trial, and imprisonment to her release, Riot Days chronicles the beginning of her political journey, while Political Girl explores the period that followed.
