The interactive computer installation »Zur Rechtfertigung der hypothetischen Natur der Kunst und der Nicht-Identität in der Objektwelt« [On justifying the hypothetical nature of art and the non-identicality within the object world] consists of a carpet with 32 sensor fields that enables you to interact with four different virtual worlds. Using the four large pressure plates of the first row, you can choose a virtual world: the world of the alphabet (language); space (architecture); objects (furniture); and creatures made of gas (artificial beings). With 28 other sensors you can design and construct the world. Comparable to a keyboard, this allows you to access, edit, and immerse yourself in virtual worlds. Classic visual worlds, such as painting, photography, and film, cannot be changed by the viewers. Digital image worlds are constructed, controlled and changed by the viewers. They react to the viewers’ input. Thus they exhibit behavior that is life- like. Especially the fourth pictorial world, the gas clouds, behaves as though it is artificial life controlled by artificial intelligence. Gas clouds of the same color multiply; gas clouds of other colors are self-consuming.
