Biography
Atau Tanaka studied electronic music with Ivan Tcherepnin at Harvard and computer music composition with John Chowning at Stanford University’s CCRMA. He was active in the San Francisco music tech scene, being one of the first musicians to perform with the BioMuse physiological interface. He left the Bay Area in 1992 to conduct research at IRCAM. Tanaka has performed network-music concerts starting at Sonar Festival 1995, and was commissioned by SWR2/ZKM for »Prométhée Numérique«, hörspiel for radio+Internet, 2003. He is currently Professor of Media Computing at Goldsmiths University of London. (ataut.net)
