Biography

Dieter Jung (b. Bad Wildungen, Germany, 1941), considered one of the pioneers of creative holography, studied theology, painting, graphic arts, and cinema in Berlin and Paris. Since 1965, his visual installations have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions at major institutions in Germany as well as elsewhere in Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East. From 1985 to 1989 he worked as a Research Fellow at the Center for Advanced Visual Studies (CAVS)/MIT and was Professor for creative holography and light art from 1990 until 2007 at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. From 1992 to 1996 Dieter Jung was a member of the Board of Trustees of the ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe. In 2010 he became a Member of the Academic Board of Advisors (now Think Tank) of the ZERO Foundation in Düsseldorf, and in 2011 he joined the International György Kepes Society in Hungary. He lives and works in Berlin.
