About her composition processes Gloggengießer says that she is looking for an individual sound language for each production. The focus is on the thematic background, the materiality of the stage, the text and the production intention of the respective play or film. Both acoustic and electronic instruments can be used, and sampling and alienation techniques that are applied to music, tones, sounds or noises are also used.

Octavia Gloggengießer completed her theatre and music education at the University of Hildesheim in 1997 with a diploma, after which she held a permanent position as assistant director and theatre pedagogue for several years. Since 1999 she has worked as a freelance composer for theatre music and since 2007 for film music. Engagements have taken her to various theaters, including the Deutsche Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Staatstheater Stuttgart and Schauspielhaus Graz.

In 2012, her music for the short film Goodbye Dad was awarded at the Aubagne International Film Festival, France and in 2014 she was a GEMA EMAS grant holder as a »Young Author«. In 2020 she was nominated for the German Documentary Film Music Award at the 35th Munich Documentary Festival for her score for the cinema documentary »Die Schule auf dem Zauberberg« (WP 2018) by Radek Wegrzyn.

In addition to her artistic activities, Octavia Gloggengießer is involved in several associations to increase the visibility and participation of female composers. She is an active member of »Pro Quote Film« a board member of the German Composers Association – National Association Berlin (DKV) and on the board of the German Film Composers Union (DEFKOM / DKV). 2019/2020 she participated as a mentee in the mentoring program of the German Cultural Council »Women in Culture and Media«.
