How does health intertwine with the sounds that surround us?
In cooperation with the Goethe-Institute, ZKM Hertzlab seeks an individual from Bangalore for a three-month long artistic research residency in Karlsruhe, Germany, who explores mental, physical or structural dimensions of health through the lens of spatial sound. We are looking for proposals that interrogate health beyond the biomedical – as something shaped by culture, tradition, economics of care, colonial histories, and power structures.
Our resident can be from across any career and disciplinary backgrounds, intending to critically explore concepts of health and wellbeing, in local contexts or global medical systems. We seek applications that are artistically and/or scientifically engaging with sound and its spatial dimension.

Who do we look for?
Essential:
- A resident of Bangalore
- An individual (no applications from collectives / duos are accepted)
- English proficiency of B2 level
- Experience with sonification, electronic sound and/or music software
- Willingness to live in Karlsruhe for the duration of the residency
