Biography

Darsha Hewitt is a Canadian interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the material politics of music and sound – with a focus on empowerment within socio-technological environments. Through installations, audiovisual works, how-to videos, sculptural objects, and performative workshops, she creates spaces for critical engagement with the entangled relationships between humans, machines, and ecology.

From a media-archaeological perspective, she deconstructs discarded technologies to expose the ethics of planned obsolescence, post-growth strategies, and the power relations embedded in socio-technical infrastructures. Her practice aims to make these dynamics visible while opening up possibilities for individuals and communities to reclaim and repurpose knowledge.

In collaboration with retired engineers, technicians, and grassroots networks, she activates overlooked technical knowledge as a site of resistance and resilience.
