- Hadeer Elmahdawy is an Egyptian journalist and researcher. She graduated from the Political Science Department – Faculty of Economics and Political Science – at Cairo University in 2006. She started working as a journalist for a national magazine, then moved to various independent Egyptian newspapers, covering issues of healthcare, corruption, poverty, and political, social, and cultural aspects of the Egyptian society. She now works as a freelance journalist for the Lebanese newspaper »As-Safir«. She also worked for almost two years as a research assistant in various Egyptian research centers and for almost three years in the Egyptian independent theater. Currently she is writing her master’s thesis on »Political Culture and Protests: A Comparative Study of Egypt and Greece« (2008 – 2012) at the European Mediterranean Studies department at Cairo University.
