Biography
Iannis Zannos has a background in music composition, ethnomusicology, and interactive performance. He has worked as Director of Music Technology and Documentation at the State Institute for Music Research in Berlin and as research director at the Center for Research for Electronic Art Technology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has taken part in numerous international collaborative media arts projects and has organized multimedia performances both alone and in cooperation with other artists. He works at the Ionian University teaching audio and interactive media arts in the Department of Audiovisual Arts, as well as teaching the postgraduate course arts and technologies of sound in the Music Department. Currently he is focusing on how environmental issues as well as problems of multiculturality are reflected in media-art terms. The main focus of present work is telematic dance with motion-capture sensor data-driven sound synthesis.
