- Joël Stein studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris (since 1946). 1960 founding member of the Centre de Recherche d’Art Visuel. 1961 founding member of the Groupe de Recherche d’Art Visuel (GRAV). The last years he lived in Crécy-la-Chapelle, FR.
