Khanda Hameed
Biography
Khanda Hameed is a Kurdish writer, cultural worker, and feminist activist. With a BA in Philosophy from the University of Koya (Kurdistan, Iraq), Khanda has dedicated her career to advancing Kurdish culture and women’s rights through a myriad of roles and initiatives. She is the cofounder and manager of the Kurdish Women’s Library, Archive, and Research Center, and also cofounded the Xwebûn Kurdish Women’s Art Collective. In her capacity as a cultural manager, Khanda has organized numerous exhibitions, book launches, panels, and seminars, significantly contributing to the cultural landscape of Kurdistan. Her editorial work includes serving on the editorial board of »Culture Magazine« and acted as the editor-in-chief of Jineoloji, a website dedicated to Kurdish women and their perspectives. Her writing spans various topics, including art criticism, film analysis, feminism, and gender-related issues. In 2024/25 Khanda Hameed is a fellow at ZKM | Karlsruhe.
