- Pierre Schaeffer studied at the École Polytechnique (grad. 1929) and the École supérieure d’électricité et des télécommunications, Paris (grad. 1931). From 1936 worked for the Radiodiffusion Française. 1951 co-founder of the Groupe de Recherche de Musique Concrète, from 1958 the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (GRM), from 1960 worked for the department of the Service de la Recherche de la Radiodiffusion-télévision française (RTF), which in 1964 became the Office de radiodiffusion-télévision française (ORTF), and from 1974 for the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel (INA).
