Rafel Caldentey
Biography
He began his musical training as a child at the municipal music schools in Felanitx and Artà (Mallorca, Spain).
He continued his training in Spain, initially with Pedro Garbajosa and Justo Sanz at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid. He later moved to Germany to study with Norbert Kaiser at the State University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart. He holds degrees in clarinet from the Musikhochschule Köln (concert exam) and the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California (Graduate Certificate), where he studied under Ralph Manno and Yehuda Gilad respectively. He is also a Master's student in Early Music with Professor Lorenzo Coppola at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC).
He was able to considerably expand his experience in chamber music during his two years as a resident musician with the Ensemble Villa-Musica (Mainz) and the International Ensemble Modern Academy (Frankfurt).
He combines his work as a bass clarinettist for the Palma Municipal Band with collaborations in early and contemporary music circles on the island.
He also holds a degree in Classical Philology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
