Biography

Robert M Ochshorn works primarily with the computer and investigates user interfaces. Last year, as part of his scholarship at the Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart, Germany), he developed new structures of digital storage as well as interfaces and codecs for making compression visible, the aim of which is to augment the perception and expressive potential of individuals and social groups.

Ochshorn completed his BA in computer science at Cornell University, (Ithaca, NY) before going on to work as research assistant under Krzysztof Wodiczko at the Interrogative Design Group, MIT and Harvard. He pursued further research at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht (NL) in 2012, where he developed the Open Source software InterLace. In collaboration with filmmaker Eyal Sivan he produced the Web-based documentary film “Montage Interdit” (premiere showing at the Berlin Documentary Forum 2, 2012). Ochshorn regularly holds lectures and presents his works at forums throughout the world.
