Biography

Robert Seyfert is Akademischer Rat (Research and Teaching Associate / Assistant Professor ) at the University of Duisburg-Essen. He works at the intersection of Cultural Sociology and Science, Technology and Society studies (STS). His research focuses on digital cultures and algorithmic finance, in particular their anthropological, epistemic, and affective aspects. Relevant publications include, “Beyond Personal Feelings and Collective Emotions: A Theory of Social Affect” (Theory, Culture & Society), and Algorithmic Cultures. Essays on Meaning, Performance and New Technologies, co-edited with Jonathan Roberge (Routledge 2016).
