Sina Seiler
Biography
Sina Seiler completed her academic film and media studies at the Universities of Karlsruhe (KIT – Karlsruhe Institute of Technologies) in cooperation with the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG), the Eberhardt Karls University of Tübingen and at DAMS (Drama Art and Music Studies) Bologna, Italy. Umberto Ecco, Giuseppe and Bernardo Bertolucci, among others, taught there and she collaborated on a theatre adaptation directed by them.
In 2004, the oral history documentary »Die spinnen doch ? Oder Visionen, die die Welt verändern...« [Are they crazy ? Or visions that change the world...] was produced in cooperation with the ZKM. Hans Baumann and Helmut Kammerer talk about the oldest tube computer in the world: the Zuse Z22 with serial number 13.
In 2021 the oral history documentary about a contemporary witness of the Nazi era »They called us the Krauts« (AT) was shot and completed in 2022, this film is now in international festival exploitation. She has written the script for her feature film debut »Im Sommer eine Nacht« (AT) and is currently looking for financing.
Since 2021 she has been a jury member for the Underground Award of the Independent Days Karlsruhe as part of »Karlsruhe - Creative City of Media Arts«.
In 2006 she was awarded the audience award at the short film festival of Kino Arsenal, Tübingen for her first surrealistic essay film »Esho Funi«, in which she also participated. The performance - poetry film »Elefant« (2013) was shown at more than 20 international literature and film festivals among others curated into the »Best of« ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival 2014 and is distributed by Haus für Poesie, Berlin. The poetry film »Vierfarbendruck« was made in 2016 with the German-Dutch exchange grant »Poetic Encounters across the borders« from the Filmwerkstatt Münster and the Filminstitut DZIGA, Nimjegen, Netherlands. This was nominated for the »Best Female Award« at the International Film Festival Karlsruhe 2017 and nominated by AG Kurzfilm for the German Short Film Award.
In the 2017/18 season, Sina Seiler participated in the performative play development »Gala Global« by the theatre collective Turbo Pascal at the Deutsches Theater Berlin.
