Wilhelm Krull

Biography

Following appointments as German Academic Exchange Service Lector at Oxford University and having occupied leading positions in the Wissenschaftsrat and at the Administrative Headquarters of the Max Planck Society, Dr. Wilhelm Krull has been Secretary General of the Volkswagen Foundation since 1996. In addition to his professional activities in the field of science policy and the promotion of research he exercises numerous functions in national, foreign and international organisations. Wilhelm Krull is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Göttingen and Chairman of the University Council in Constance; a member of the Scientific Commission of the State of Lower Saxony and of the Board of Trustees of the Max Planck Institutes of Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, of Biochemistry in Martinsried, of Psychiatry in Munich, of the Albert Einstein Institute of Gravitation Physics in Potsdam, of the Board of Trustess of the Fraunhofer Institute of Systems Engineering in Karlsruhe, of the Centre for Science Management in Speyer and of the Governing Board of the Central European University in Budapest. As a Member of the Advisory Council of the Association of German Foundations and of the Governing Council of the European Foundation Centre, Krull is active on behalf of foundations at the national and international level.
