Yu-Jung Chen
Biography
Yu-Jung Chen is a sound and multimedia artist based in Tainan, Taiwan. In his works, he deals with the connection between space, nature and life and combines them with contemporary sounds. By translating sonic narratives, his work induces the intermediate state of the human body in time and space. At the same time, he opens up the perceptual experience of the body as a system connecting inner emotions with outer space. In recent years, he has residencies and exhibitions in Taiwan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, South Korea, Japan, etc.
Most of Chen’s recent artworks are inspired by outer space, individual emotions and the experiences involved in such, having a focus on the interaction of visuals and sound associated with space. His pieces often contain ready-made objects that become part of an emotional narrative from his own perspective. In the development of his works, he uses a variety of materials, which he collects and analyzes in order to use them as an artistic basis.
