The publication »Ed Sommer. Planetare Allianz« provides an overview of the multilayered and extraordinary work of the artist Ed Sommer, who preferred to think of himself as a visual language maker. His work since 1959 has included metal objects, acrylic glass moldings, gestural painting, erotic films, projected photographs, dialogical portraits, and spoken texts. In 2014, ZKM | Karlsruhe received a large number of works by Ed Sommer into its permanent collection. The publication presents these acquisitions, supplemented by additional works by the artist.
