- Starting with the question of how a museum can represent and reproduce past live productions of performance and dance, at the ZKM Karlsruhe new forms of exhibiting and documenting the art of performance and its history were developed and tested. In contradistinction to the male-dominated art scene, it was decided that »Moments« would focus on a representative selection of female artists: Marina Abramović, Graciela Carnevale, Simone Forti, Anna Halprin, Lynn Hershman Leeson, Reinhild Hoffmann, Channa Horwitz, Sanja Iveković, Adrian Piper, and Yvonne Rainer. Their works are acknowledged today as revolutionary milestones of performance and art. In collaboration with these artists, some of whom were present. their key works were performed and reinterpreted in a dialogue with performers of this generation. This publication contains a wealth of photographs and documents the complex processes within the exhibition space. Thirteen essays present the current state of research on performance and dance and offer the insights of scholars who work on this subject
