Rudolf Frisius (1941*) is a musicologist specializing in »musicology« (especially »music theory«, »music of the 20th and 21st centuries«, »music and radio plays«, »electroacoustic music«) and »music education« (especially »new approaches to music theory in the classroom«, »higher education« and »instrumental pedagogy«). As a participant in the Darmstadt Summer Courses in 1959, he studied with Karlheinz Stockhausen, Pierre Boulez, Györgi Ligeti, later with Gottfried Michael König, Iannis Xenakis and Mauricio Kagel, among others.
The archive of Rudol Frisius brings together his entire academic work in various media and formats. The archive comprises audio and video recordings as well as written documents with a focus on »music theory« and »new music«. The audio tapes are digitized at the ZKM | Karlsruhe and indexed and catalogued in collaboration with Rudolf Frisius himself. The collection is divided into the following areas:
