Biography
Gerhard Richter (*1932, Dresden, DE) lives and works in Cologne, DE. Richter studied painting at the Dresden University of Fine Arts and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. From 1971 to 1993, he was professor for painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Richter’s artistic practice transcends the distinction between abstract and representational painting and questions the medium itself. Furthermore, a conceptual exploration of imagery lies at the heart of his work.
