Description
From March 1st to 2nd, 2018, the conference »smARTplaces | INNOVATION in Culture« took place at the ZKM | Karlsruhe as part of the EU project »smARTplaces«.
Not only is digitization now in art’s DNA, cultural institutions are beginning to embark on disruptive paths in order to facilitate and support innovative processes. The »smARTplaces | INNOVATION in Culture« conference analyzes possibilities, and also necessities, of digital renewal within culture and spotlights audience development.
Digitalization provides museums with a multitude of opportunities – new ways to encourage accessibility, visitor interaction and participation or new forms of collaboration within the organization itself are just some of them. Museums are also taking these opportunities in Baden-Württemberg and are tackling the challenges they face as a result of digital transformation. But how are museums tackling these challenges? What lessons have they learned and what support do they receive in Baden-Württemberg as they work towards developing a sustainable digital strategy? Beate Lex answers these questions based on the MFG’s experiences of working with museums in Baden-Württemberg.
Beate Lex has managed the unit Media Projects and Services at MFG Baden-Württemberg since November 2017. Together with the Digital Culture team, she supports museums in the federal state with her digital practice on behalf of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg. The art historian, business economist and certified cultural mediator previously managed the area of New Learning Concepts at the MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art.
