The exhibition »Die Neue Sachlichkeit« (New Objectivity) at the Kunsthalle Mannheim in 1925 was an epochal phenomenon.
Alexander Kanoldt was represented with 15 paintings. With his still lifes and landscapes, but also with his portraits, he is considered one of the most important representatives of the classical tendency of New Objectivity painting. The lecture will deal with this stylistic phenomenon in general and place Kanoldt in the context of this diverse spectrum.
