The nationwide working meeting of emergency networks, now held annually, serves to foster networking, professional exchange, and continuing education among its members and other interested participants. In 2026, the Karlsruhe Emergency Network invites attendees to a program of lectures, guided tours of Karlsruhe’s cultural institutions, and an evening networking event.
What is an emergency network?
An emergency network is a collaborative association of museums, archives, and libraries at the local or regional level. Its purpose is to provide mutual support in the event of an emergency—through personnel, materials, and expertise—while also jointly developing preventive measures and exchanging experience. This includes close cooperation with local emergency response authorities.
Core activities include establishing alert and response structures, conducting emergency drills and training sessions, maintaining shared emergency databases, and coordinating logistical procedures through framework agreements.
Thanks to the financial support of the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) and the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg (MWK), participation is free of charge.
