While the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Karlsruhe are already underway, another show for the festival is taking shape at ZKM. Since August 17, 2026, 14 emerging creatives from a range of disciplines have been developing a new projection-mapping work as part of the second ZKM Summer School, “TIME³.” In just three weeks, the group is creating its own audiovisual artwork, which will premiere on the facade of Karlsruhe Palace on September 5, 2026.

Selected from numerous applications, 14 international creatives working in sound and motion design, animation, creative technology, and game engines were chosen to participate in this year’s Summer School. The team is supported by the renowned media art collective ruestungsschmie.de, which has already produced two shows for the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE. Beginning September 5, 2026, the new show “!lli” will become part of the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Karlsruhe’s program. In their work, the artists seek to make their contradictions and differences visible, while also recognizing them as a source of strength. The title “!lli” (Korean: 일리 = meaning) deliberately breaks with familiar conventions through its unconventional spelling.

Fourteen creatives from ten different countries are taking part in the 2026 Summer School:
Hans Bolz (Germany), Joanna Friedrich-Sroka (Germany), Chelsea Kim (South Korea), Rene Krisanov (Germany), Arnaud Laffond (France), Jason Leo (United Kingdom), Kuan-Wen Liu (Taiwan), Alexis Morales (Mexico), nefo (China), Sara Nikolic (Serbia), Leticia Pantoja (Brazil), Diana Reichenbach (USA), Lucas Trautmann (Germany), and Z1 (South Korea).
