Why do we blog?

ZKM is a space of artistic experience which unfurls online and on site. It produces and presents not only interactive media art which turns our visitors into active, creative visitors, but it also invites us to participate democratically and culturally in digital space. As a »smart place«, ZKM develops formats that initiate dialogue between us and our visitors. The ZKM magazine is a medium for sharing opinions, discussing and commenting.

Based on our exhibitions, ongoing projects, concerts and events, the magazine establishes topics that ask us: How do we want to live in the future? The magazine reveals the people behind the exhibitions and their experiences. It gathers background information and presents opposing views. We must discuss! We are not content with the status quo – we focus on the backstage of the artistic scene. We are particularly interested in hidden themes. We provide scope for productive discussion, and the one thing we are above all, is curious!

...discover new topics and trends with us. The magazine is a type of seismograph that aims to pick up the discourse that is in progress.

tracks & records...

...interviews, exhibition documentations, talks, lectures, discussions and much more are all recorded. Our content is put in a wider context here.

take a look… behind the scenes of ZKM...

...immerse in the ZKM universe. Peter Weibel writes his editorial here and gives his own personal, curatorial and artistic view of the ZKM and current topics. Join us to take a look into the engine room of the art and culture factory that is ZKM: How are our exhibitions conceived? How are media artworks restored? How are surviving video tapes preserved? How are compositions developed in the ZKM Sound Dome? ...

Who blogs?

The writers are ZKM’s press and public information editors, Dominika Szope, Alexa Knapp and Sabine Jäger. But employees, guest researchers and guest artists also have their say with us, as well as invited authors and experts from a diverse range of fields.
