- Description
- The starting point for the computer-generated video projection »Light Revisited« by Steina and Woody Vasulka is the work »Noisefield«, created in 1974. Here a video sequencer switches between two video sources, creating a flickering effect. In the process a colorizer adds color variations. The circular shape divides the video into an inner and an outer field, which both pulsate. The images trace the electronic signals whose materiality and energy they illustrate. They reveal the source of the electronic input. The result is an audiovisual modulation of “video noise” that is transmitted into the exhibition space through the installation structure of »Light Revisited«.
Steina and Woody Vasulka belong to the leading pioneers of video and computer art. As early as 1995, they received the Siemens Media Art Award, which recognized their work in developing new media technology tools. For example, they investigated ways to generate sounds from images and images from sounds.
