The installation created by Peter Weibel for the ZKM’s Panorama Lab as part of the »GLOBALE« 2015, »Der kälteste Planet des Universums: Das menschliche Herz« [The Coldest Planet in the Universe: The Human Heart] shows images and texts of around 250 million political murders (genocides, world wars, massacres, civil wars, assassinations, and terror attacks) from the 20th century. This chronological overview of bloody events offers the opportunity to become informed, year after year, about generally known crimes, forgotten crimes, and repressed memories of crimes and to reflect on how they have been dealt with in politics and society. An interactive control system enables the user to call up facts about the place and time of the event, the parties involved in the conflict, the number of deaths and weapons as well as a brief description of the causes and course of events of the individual crimes.
