Four Rooms
Concert and live-electronic transformation
Thu, March 11, 2004 8 pm CET, Concert Series

»Four Rooms« is a concert installation that blends a live concert with its electronic processing to produce four separate listening points. The ZKM Music Balcony provides the musical centre and stage for an improvising duo. The stereo signal of their concert is received in each of three adjacent studios by an electronica artist, who manipulates it in his or her own way – now in analogue, now in digital form. This ‘transformed’ music is only audible via loudspeakers in the individual room. The audience moves back and forth between the rooms and can hear either the original sound or one of the three ‘remixes’. This spatially distributed concert with separate acoustic components is reassembled, as it were, in the mind of the listener.
