Manfred Hentz: Illusion-Information?
Thu, March 04, 2004 7 pm CET, Lecture

How do misunderstandings and conflicts come about? What happens when we communicate? A critical review of the concept of information in theory and everyday practice.

Communication is the key social process, without which no family, company or state can function. What may be a natural everyday process for ordinary people is still largely uncharted territory for scientists. There is no uniform view on what happens when communication takes place and why »exchanges of information« in everyday situations often backfire and lead to misunderstandings.
The communication process is examined from a new perspective based on neurobiological theory. The focus is on how people perceive their environment as such. How do we conceive of the world around us and how is information transported to the brain? Do our sense impressions convey objective information or contrived illusions?

Dr. Manfred Hentz is an economist in an executive function with a service company. He did his doctorate on ‘Internal Communication’.
