This latest in the recently launched series of exhibitions, in which the ZKM | Film Institute pays tribute to outstanding figures in contemporary cinema, is devoted to a cameraman.Vadim Yusov [b. 1929 in Klavdino, Leningrad province], who ranks alongside Henri Alekan and Sven Nykvist as one of the most prominent cameramen in the history of the cinema, owes his legendary fame to his work on the first three Tarkovsky films, Ivan’s Childhood, Andrei Rublev and Solaris. He has been Head of the Camera Department at the famous Moscow Film School VGIK for many years now and is also President of the Tarkovsky Society.

The exhibition is restricted to the masterpieces and ends on each of the three evenings with a discussion under the heading: “How did you do it, Mr. Yusov?”, which gives the audience an opportunity to put questions to him. The discussion is chaired by Andrei Ujica.
