Screening of the documentary film and discussion with the filmmakers Peter Haas and Silvia Holzinger.
The film "Joseph Weizenbaum. Rebel at Work" highlights the life of the renowned scientist Joseph Weizenbaum, who, for example, invented ELIZA/DOCTOR at MIT. With this program, he wanted to demonstrate the processing of natural language by a computer. In the film, Weizenbaum describes his life: from his youth in 1920s Berlin, to his escape to America with his family in 1936, through to his work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge and his return to Berlin. Following the film screening there will be opportunity for discussion with the filmmakers Peter Haas and Silvia Holzinger.
