"Visual Music" is a new, computer-supported form of artistic expression that moves between image and sound. The computer comprises the digital interface that connects the music and image. The music controls the characteristics of the image or vice-versa. Both media, thus interconnected, create new means of perception between "hearing" and "seeing". The diversity of the pieces leads to concrete and poetic, imaginary and psychedelic landscapes: to visual listening and to hearing sight. For the screening at ZKM, works have been selected that were shown to some extent at the "Visual Music Marathon" (VMM) Boston. In addition, three debuts will be added at ZKM.

Works by, among others, Bret Battey, Per Bloland, Jean Detheux, Rajmil Fischman, Yanjun Hua, Hiromi Ishii, Wilfried Jentzsch, Elsa Justel, Jonathon Kirk, Stephan Larson, Dennis Miller, Hans Mittendorf, Nathaniel Resnikof, Vishal Shah, Adam Stansbie, Arie Stavchansky, Rebecca Ruige Xu
