The composer Gilles Gobeil, currently resident in Montreal, is presently on a DAAD Scholarship in Berlin, and will be giving a concert at the ZKM on the occasion of the release of his new DVD “Trois songes”. Here, in the unique Sound Dome of the ZKM_Cube, complete with its 47 loudspeakers, he will be performing three works he created at the ZKM within during his Guest Artists Residency Scholarship between 2006 and 2007. At the same time, the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics will be publishing the retrospective on the festival “Trans_Canada” in the form of a DVD, and a website with texts written by the composer as well as a symposium together with interviews with the artist. The DVD will be released under the Canadian label “Empreintes Digitales” and contains an exemplary overview of the electro-acoustic music scene in Canada. This unique collection of works from the most well-known and most influential of Canadian composers – all of them commissioned by the ZKM – was especially created for the festival.
